The COVID-19 crisis has had a major impact on our students’ financial situation, as many businesses temporarily close, ending jobs on which our students depend to pay for rent, food and other necessities.

The Nourishing Minds Fund addresses food insecurity by providing electronic grocery cards to help students in need, to purchase food, toiletries and other life necessities.

With the support of corporate and individual donors, Niagara College’s Development & Alumni Relations department has been able to allocate $50,000 to help alleviate the food insecurity faced by many NC students.

Although we were able to make significant funds available, the need is urgent and grows daily. Since the pandemic began, 2,726 electronic grocery cards of $50 each have been distributed for a total of $135,525.
